Obama the Anti-Christ

Okay so I in no way believe that Obama is the anti-Christ but I have noticed that many of the comments I have heard on his election to President have this veiled fear behind them that he indeed might be the anti-Christ. Where did the idea that the anti-Christ would be an American come from? Is America even in the Bible? Can't someone be successful but not fully agree with the religious right without being a candidate for anti-Christ? If the anti-Christ is to be an American I think he/she is much more likely to be a republican or someone on the right. But I really doubt the anti-Christ will be a President of America. There is a bigger world out there and many more likely candidates.

Barak Wins. We all win.

What an amazing an historic day this is in American history. For that alone people should be excited. Let's not forget that the last historic day in this nation was 911, this time instead of sorrow there should be great joy.

I am aware that it is very hard to see yourself from an outside perspective and that is as true for nations as it is for people. I don't think many Americans appreciate how America has looked for the past eight years. It has not been good and the greatness of America has sadly been hidden by the ineptitude and arrogance of the Bush administration. The rest of the world is very aware of the horrors going on in Iraq and Afghanistan in the name of democracy and freedom. It is interesting that the church in other countries opposed the war but the right wing evangelicals hijacked the church here and made it look as though the war had the blessing of Christians. America has not looked good in the eyes of the rest of the world because it has not lived up to its own greatness.

Electing a black man as president shows the world that America truly is the land of opportunity. It sets a great precedent. I think this is the first mainly white country that has elected someone from a minority to lead them. This will have a profound and exciting affect on the rest of the world. People can look to America and see that it is a land that believes in freedom and equality, not just as empty words but as a reality.

For the last eight years America has been driven by fear, now it can be driven by hope. I am actually excited about the future of America in a way I never have been before.

I think he will be a good president. I don't agree with him on everything but he will not be terrible. He will not attack other countries and kill their people. He will not ignore the suffering of the poor and disenfranchised in this country. He will not be held to ransom by fat cats and money men and I doubt very much that he will try to manipulate the church by claiming values he doesn't really hold.

I have noticed that the majority of people I have witnessed who are trouble by his election are white. I can't help but wonder if there is something deeper going on with them. Not racism as such but an unsettling that for the first time when they look at the president they don't see one of their own. Well that's the way it's been for non-whites since forever.

How great for the black community and everyone else that there is and will be for the next four years a positive and powerful image of a black man who represents more than just the black community.

I am glad he won and glad that I was here to witness it. America is great, a place where all things are possible. God bless America.

Sarah Palin - Bless her heart.

I am trying to not get into the whole elction thing because I'm not sure that it really matters anymore, if this financial fiasco tells us anything, it's that America is not in ful control of it's destiny and we are all in hock up to the eyeballs.

That being said I did watch Sarah Palin's interview with the lovely Miss Katie Couric. Oh my goodness. Was she for real or was that a SNL sketch? Is she really likely to be VP and possibly P? She seems like a nice enough lady but, bless her heart, she really is in way over her head. She has no idea, does she? I know the media tends to have a liberal leaning ('cept for right wing nazi KKK Fox News) and Palin will get a harder time than Biden but at least he knows what he's talking about and what his running mate is doing. Sarah just seemed to be trying to make it up as she went along. Was she really serious when she said that being next door to Russia and Canada gave her good foreign policy experience, really? Coz Alsaka does loads of trade with Putin, he just loves their... what is it they have? I live next door to a family, doesn't mean I know about raising children (neither do my neighbors, but that's a whole other blog)

I would like to like Palin but she is so obviously out of her depth that she looks ridiculous, and for that I don't like her. Every time she speaks I want someone to stop her before she says something else stupid. What am I saying, someone does stop her, her own party. They really don't let her speak that often do they? Maybe becuase they are as embarrassed by her as I am.

I have already admitted that I am pro Obama (though his light doesn't shine as bright as it use to) so I will happily be biased (It's my blog, I'll do what I like) I don't believe in being fair becuase fair doesn't exist (Unless your God and then he's not fair because if he was we would all be going to hell) so if you think I am being unfair to Palin or Fox News then you are right.

And what's the deal with McCain suspending his campaign because of the credit crunch thing we're in? Is it over now tha the is campaigning again? If he was president would he supend his presidency every time them was an emergency? I just did not get that. But what to I know? I am just a biased unfair liberal Brit. I'm cute though.

I just saw that box where you can add tags. I have never noticed that before. How cool. I'm gonna add loads of tags.

Quick Question

Here's a quick question: Why do a sermon? We know most people don't ever remember them and most of us if we are honest don't really like listening to them. Why do we insist on having them every week and why are they the central focus of our meetings?

I'd be curious to hear how people really feel (not the party line) how you really feel.

Aaaaaaarrrggghhh!!!

Why do people think it's appropriate to make promises to others on The Salvation Army's behalf? It's so maddening. I understand people want to get home from evacuation, but don't promise them a bed in a lodge if you haven't even investigated whether or not there is any space available. And why is that when you are the only lodge that has remained open you are the one that people blame rather than the other lodges that closed down during the hurricane? It's maddening. And why do I now feel responsible and like I'm the one who's let everyone down? MADDENING!!! Other than that we are doing well here in Lafayette.
